At our optical practice we offer a wide variety of eye care services. Many patients come to our practice for comprehensive eye exams for themselves and for their children. During the first part of our eye exam our optometrist will make sure that you do not have any refractive vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. If it is determined that you have one of these problems, our optometrist will be able to write a prescription for you that will once again provide you with clear vision. You will then receive medicated eye drops as part of your
Skokie eye care which will cause your eyes to dilate. This will allow our optometrist to see through to the back of your eyes so that the health of the retina and macula can be carefully evaluated.
Over the course of the exam, your eyes will be examined for a wide variety of eye diseases and disorders including: cataracts; glaucoma; macular degeneration; diabetic retinopathy; dry eyes; and other problems of the cornea, macula, and retina. If you need to have optic nerve imaging or computerized visual field testing this will be able to be done at our practice as well. As part of your exam, your eye pressure, otherwise known as intraocular pressure, will be tested to screen for glaucoma. If this test shows that your eye pressure is high, additional tests will be needed to be run for an accurate diagnosis to be made. Our eye doctors are also able to perform vision exams for children. If you are interested in getting contact lenses, our eye doctor will also be able to perform a contact lens exam and fitting. For an appointment to see our optometrist for an eye exam or to receive
